Kindness comes in many forms. Sometimes it is in the form of an inter-dimensional pollution goddess.

Gurk is a kaiju of mysterious origins. She just appeared around Tower City one day with little explanation. Officially called the Sludgehog by the citizens for its spikes and propensity to spew slime, she eventually garnered the name “Gurk” because of the weird chirping gurgling noises she tends to make.

Gurk has the power to produce just about any toxic chemical she desires from deep inside her gut. Her body can also release lethal amounts of radiation at will. While these facts are known by the citizens of Tower City, and rightfully feared. Gurk is ‘mostly’ harmless.

While a massive radiation spewing monster should be cause for alarm, Gurk seems to absolutely adore humans. She seems to fawn over any brave enough to approach her. She gives gentle head pats, and possibly toxic kisses to her newfound friends. Scientists believe the reasoning is that she needs heavy amounts of pollution in the atmosphere to survive. She feeds and metabolizes it. Since humans make pollution, she sees us as kindred spirits. Also she might just find us cute.

The truth about Gurk’s origins might be quite a bit darker than we realize. It seems other alien races are quite aware of her, and fear her. Stone carvings of a similar creature were found on a Goreya colony world. Which raises the question of how she got here in the first place. Does she have a space ship? Did she mutate from a fish in radioactive waste? Was she summoned via a radioactive grimoire of forbidden toxic knowledge? Who cares. She doesn’t. She just wants to play yahtzee with her buddy Drak, if he will tolerate her today.
